Dare to Flash a Stache

November is almost here again, and we are excited to participate in the local Movember tradition of Dare to Flash a Stache!

What’s it all about? Maybe it’s best said in this video, www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQvbKfEKLMI, that took place in Toronto.

Phew, that was a little heavy, how about a little moustache fun, just quick: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZ_fbECcNsA

During November each year, mustaches sprout on thousands of mens’ faces around the world to raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

These men start Movember 1 clean shaven. For the rest of the month, they (hopefully) groom, trim and wax their way into fine moustachery.

Mo Bros, with support from their Mo Sistas, seek out sponsorship to raise funds for their mustache-growing efforts.

In 2011, over 854,000 men and women around the world got on board in an organized manner and manage to raise $126.3 million.

Movember participants are encouraged to organize local events. As such, Dare to Flash a Stache was born to keep the fundraising local to the Winchester Hospital service area.

Dare to Flash A ‘Stache benefits the Cancer Care Navigation Program at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH), improving the experience for those diagnosed and affected by cancer, and also Dr. Anthony Bella’s Men’s Health Research Project, improving quality of life for men following prostate cancer treatment.   We’re making a difference where we live! Register yourself or your team, and begin pledging today! Then, in November – grow, groom, trim, wax, or even “fashion a fake” to make your way into the annals of fine moustachery! – See more at: http://www.flashastache.ca/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1111106#sthash.bwKHoGMK.dpuf

One international fundraising team’s motivation quote reads, “Who’s the kind of Bro that grows a MO: a son, a brother, a father, an uncle, a friend. Real men talking about real men’s health issues in the manliest way possible – by growing a mo. Take on the challenge this Movember and stand up for men’s health.”

As Movember inevitably nears its conclusion at the end of November, the abundance of facial hair may decline, but the mustache theme doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

Mustaches have made their way into the fashion world, taking over clothing and accessories in a variety of stores. You can buy a mustached themed hat, necklace, accessories, and well…almost anything. Check out ETSY to see some great ideas: www.etsy.com/ca/market/mustache

In 2012, the local efforts raised over $54,000 by the participation of 130 people. Let’s make this the best year yet! Join our team and moustache yourself or donate to the cause!!

I mustache you a question

But I’ll shave it for later

Then a little beardy told me to tell you

So I’ll whisker it in your ear…
